About Key to Paradise

A faith-driven nonprofit bridging earthly compassion with eternal purpose, based in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Our Story

Nepal, known officially as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia situated mainly in the Himalayas. It currently has a poverty rate of over 25% — and it is increasing.

The health system in Nepal is characterized by a wide network of health facilities and community workers and volunteers. Nepal's Interim Constitution of 2007 addresses health as a fundamental right, stating that every citizen has the right to basic health services free of cost. Unfortunately, this is a far cry from reality. Only 61.8% of Nepalese households have access to health facilities within 30 minutes, with significant urban (85.9%) and rural (59%) discrepancy. Private facilities exist, but minimal access to public facilities leads to higher prices which most people cannot afford.

Due to impoverished living conditions and lack of medical facilities, life is hard and many times leads to premature fatalities. This is why Key to Paradise was formed.

Our Founder

The organization's founder, Saba Siddiqui, travelled back to her hometown in Nepal in 2021 and was surprised by what she saw — people living in homes without roofs, widowed women with children struggling to support them, and children who had lost both of their parents at a young age.

Ms. Siddiqui knew her calling. Born a Muslim, she wanted to raise money to help families put roofs over their heads, make medical services attainable, and make sure families are getting enough to eat to remain healthy. The fund also goes to building and providing services to an orphanage.

She knew she needed to do something — and Key to Paradise was born.

“Righteousness in the sight of God … dwells in one who, despite his love for it, gives of his wealth in charity to close relatives and orphans and to the needy and the wayfarer, and beggars and for the emancipation of slaves.”
